There are other ways to snag the game though, for example, if you have the UPlay client installed, you can simply find the game in the Uplay Store section and click to add it to your games library for £0.00. Furthermore, the PC gaming freebie of Assassin's Creed Unity will 'give everyone the chance to experience the majesty and beauty of Notre-Dame the best way we know how,' as its historic architectural beauty features as a 'virtual homage' within the game. Putting its money where its mouth is, the games publisher has put €500,000 in the pot for restoration and reconstruction of Notre-Dame. Ubisoft hopes the free giveaway to PC gamers will encourage further donations to the cause of rebuilding the historic cathedral. The initiative follows the tragic fire at Notre-Dame de Paris on Monday evening. I seriously can't believe I can't play a singleplayer game I bought through Steam without logging into Uplay's online service.Ubisoft has begun to give away free copies of Assassin's Creed Unity for PC. I've done tons of searching and tried tons of remedies (restarting computer, resetting my password, changing IPv6 settings, etc.) all to no avail. However, even though I am logged in through the Uplay launcher, it still asks me to log in once I launch the game (and gives the same error message). I tried opening the game from Uplay directly. I've been trying this fix this instance of the issue all evening, and it still persists. I've had this same error message COUNTLESS times in other Ubi games like R6 and Watch Dogs, but it has never persisted past a few log in attempts. Each time I log in, however, It gives me the 'A Ubisoft service is currently unavailable' error message. A Uplay window opened and asked me to log in. This evening, I attempted to open the game through Steam.

I recently bought Assassin's Creed: Unity via the Steam autumn sale, and I was having tons of fun until this issue happened.
